      HAMMERS TEVEZ TEAR-UP

WEST HAM gained clearance to play Carlos Tevez yesterday by terminating their agreement with his owners.

Media Sports Investment, the company formerly run by Kia Joorabchian, are now believed to be threatening legal action after the Hammers tore up their contract.

The MSI involvement was the part of the Tevez-Mascherano deal that led to the Premier League handing out a world record £5.5million fine for a breach of regulations. In the original Tevez contract, signed last August, the Hammers agreed to pay MSI an incredible £25million if they signed the striker on a permanent deal.

Far from trying to seal Tevez's signing to allow him to play in their last three games, the relegation-threatened Hammers tore up their original deal.

West Ham accept MSI are likely to take legal action but the League enquiry heard that Tevez's agreement may not stand scrutiny in an English court.

Last night Graham Shears, Joorbachian's legal adviser, said: "My client is not particularly concerned with issues surrounding the Premier League findings. We'll deal with them as and when necessary."

It has emerged that former chairman Terry Brown has yet to receive the full amount of his pay-off from the Eggert Magnusson takeover.

West Ham intend to withhold £5.5m to cover the fine.

The club are also considering an appeal against the fine. They have just seven days to register an appeal.

Tevez played as West Ham won 3-0 at Wigan - and Latics supremo David Whelan accused the FA of double standards over the affair.

Whelan said: "If it had been Wigan who had done the same thing I seriously believe we would have been deducted 10 points."

Hammers run rule over Racing pair

West Ham United are interested in signing Racing Santander pair Ruben Gonzalez and Ezequiel Garay.

The Hammers, who are understandably awaiting the outcome of their fight against relegation from the Premiership, sent scouts to watch the clash against Deportivo La Coruna at the weekend, which ended goalless.

Ruben did not feature in the match, yet goal-happy centre-half Garay did play a part.

Racing are eighth in the Liga table, on the verge of a European qualification spot, largely thanks to the performances of the two.

West Ham are not the first club to have them watched this season, as Manchester United, among other Premiership sides, have visited to run the rule over their potential for England's top division.

The Hammers are currently in 18th place in the Premiership albeit level on 35 points with 17th placed Wigan with just two matches still to play.

      CURBS IS KEEN ON SHITTU

WATFORD star Danny Shittu is a £3million target for West Ham.

Defender Shittu, 26, has enjoyed an impressive first full season in the Premiership despite Watford's relegation.

That has caught the eye of several clubs including West Ham and Wigan. Hammers boss Alan Curbishley is desperate to strengthen his central defence and even if they go down, he will have money to spend.

    • Benayoun unterzeichnet bis 2012

      Benayoun signs Hammers deal

Yossi Benayoun has pledged his future to West Ham United by signing a new five-year contract.

Reports had claimed the Israeli schemer was holding crisis talks with The Hammers after being dropped by Alan Curbishley earlier in the season.

But Benayoun forced his way back into the side and played his part in helping West Ham stave off relegation to the Championship.

He has now committed his future to the club by agreeing a deal until 2012 and the midfielder had no qualms in extending his stay.

"I'm very pleased to have agreed this new deal," Benayoun told the club's official website.

"From the first moment I arrived at West Ham, the club felt like home to me. We have the best supporters in England.

"The natural thing for me was to sign a new deal and I'm very happy because I want to stay at this club. I'm sure we'll have a better season next season because we have players with a lot of quality.

"We will also have new players coming in to make us stronger and better. I'm very pleased because it is the best place for me.

"The chairman is very ambitious and I want to thank him because the negotiations were very quick. He and the manager showed me they wanted me to stay immediately.

"Hopefully I will pay them back on the pitch and I will do everything in my power to match their ambition."

Last September, Benayoun revealed he had agreed a five-year deal with The Hammers after impressing since his arrival from Racing Santander in 2005.

    • West Ham holt Scott Parker

      Hammers seal move for Parker

West Ham have completed the signing of Scott Parker from Newcastle in a £7million deal.

Parker has inked a five-year deal at Upton Park after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

The England international will link up with Alan Curbishley again after they enjoyed a successful spell together at Charlton and he becomes West Ham's first signing of the summer.

Curbishley was delighted to be reunited with Parker and believes he will be a valuable addition to his squad.

"I'm delighted Scott has agreed to sign for us," Curbishley told the club's official website. "Our relationship goes back some time to when he first joined Charlton as a schoolboy.

"He's coming to the club knowing full well that we're trying to push forward and he wants to be part of that. Firstly he wants to improve our team; then he wants to improve his chances of forcing his way back into the England scene.

"He has been captain of Newcastle over the last couple of seasons and he is exactly the type of player that I wanted to bring to the club. He's very experienced but still young and I'm sure he's going to be a big asset to West Ham."

Parker will help fill the void left by the expected departure of Nigel Reo-Coker who has been the subject of a bid from Aston Villa, while Newcastle are on the brink of landing Joey Barton as a replacement for Parker

    • £9m to keep Tevez for year

West Ham have launched a desperate bid to keep Carlos Tevez in an astonishing £9million one-year loan deal.

They have offered the Argentina striker a £6m salary - £115,000 a week - but would have to pay his 'owner' Kia Joorabchian up to £3m in a loan fee.

Upton Park success: the West Ham management are desperate for Tevez to stay at the club
      More....

But by paying him wages which would put him in the same bracket as Chelsea stars Michael Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko, West Ham hope to convince him to snub offers from Inter and Real Madrid, both of whom are ready to pay Joorabchian £30m.

The Hammers have had a disappointing time trying to sign players, which has raised speculation over Curbishley's future.

Keeping Tevez would go a long way to persuading the board that they have the right manager.

So far Darren Bent has snubbed a £75,000-a-week deal and Mark Viduka and Joey Barton have also turned them down.

Even signing £6.5m Scott Parker from Newcastle cost them £75,000 a week.

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp is considering a £3m bid for Hammers striker Marlon Harewood after being thwarted in his attempts to sign Fredi Kanoute and Yakubu.

He said: "If he could get 15 goals, he'd be a snip."

      tribalfooball.com - July 02, 2007

Aston Villa are close to agreeing an £8 million deal for West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker.
The England Under-21 skipper is understood to have undergone a medical at Villa's Bodymoor Heath training complex over the weekend.

Villa are remaining tight-lipped over the possibility of Reo-Coker becoming Martin O'Neill's first summer signing.
